I Stand With Jesus

I see a major line being drawn in this country, and I am compelled to pray.

It seems that there is a Man of God named Phil Robertson that has everyone in an uproar, because his words were offensive to others.

The focus of his offenses seem to be on so many things. They vary on how crude he was, to or how unloving they were, but all in all everyone thinks that they have hindsight on how was the proper way to do it.

Well stop it!

It is impossible to not be offensive!

I can look at you, (and if I am currently in the flesh) I am offended by you. You doubt me? Look at a group of women chatter away about how another woman looks in her swimsuit just because she looks better in it than they do.

I will offend you!

I am just as crude as (if not more than) Phil Robertson. What the scripture refers to as dung, rags and adulterous… I refer to as s**t, tam**s and f***ed-up.

Do I use those words in front of some people? Nope. I try to not offend, but the truth is, the words are still the same, they are true and they carry the same meanings.

That tells me that it isn’t the words that offend (or how they are delivered), but it is the truth that offends.

We are told to deliver the message of truth, and that people will be offended.

Jesus was very offensive, but He told us in Matthew 11:6 that when you hear the truth you will be blessed. This scripture in context was when John the baptist asked about Jesus, and Jesus told his disciples to tell of what they heard and saw.

Yes, Jesus lived a Godly life, and His lifestyle of love and truth still offended others.

If a person sees and hears the truth and is not offended, they will be blessed, and they will be made free (John 8:31-32). If the person chooses to be offended, they will be doomed to be slaves to sin.

Jesus was the perfect example of love and truth being lived and spoken, and He still offended others.

Matthew 13:55-57
Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?
Where then did this Man get all these things?” So they were offended at Him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

Those who were offended, tried to rally up every excuse to justify their offense towards Jesus.

Matthew 15:5-13
But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
Hypocrites!
Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

In essence, Jesus offended the church crowd also, by telling them to stop following the “Political Correctness” of the day. His response to them was akin to separating the “sheeps from the goats.”

I guess Jesus shouldn’t have been so crude to call the hypocrites? Nope, they were offended at the truth He spoke, but blamed the way He said it?

When people want to be offended, they will be offended. When they choose you to be offended at, there is nothing you can do to change it.

You walk away and allow the Holy Spirit to work in them. If you argue with them, you will under mine the working of the Holy Spirit.

Just lovingly wipe the dust off of your hands and feet and let God work.

Luke 10:10-11
But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.’

In my life, I have had to rephrase that Scripture like this, “Look, I have shown you the truth in scripture, I leave you to the Holy Spirit and He will prove it to you.”

That has been the last thing that I have told (or prayed about) some people, and I leave them in God’s hands. This is called planting and watering.

1 Corinthians 3:3-6
…for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.

Carnal people will focus on the hows, whens, whys and who’s and be offended.

To be spiritual is to do and say what God told you to do and say, then step aside and let Him work.

The church has tried to be politically correct and appease the world.
The church has tried to flavor the Gospel and water down the truth.
The church has started teaching the doctrines of men.
The church has tried to follow two masters…

Phil Robertson did everything according to scripture, and has stepped back and let God work. There were no debates, but there was a stand for the simple truth. The message was delivered in love, because it was delivered when he was asked to deliver it. He didn’t try to sissy-slap with the gay, and he spoke like he spoke everyday of his life.

Those offended by Phil, are really offended by Jesus first and the truth that He speaks through the Holy Spirit of God.

Stop trying to analyze the shouldd-coulda-woulda’s of everything, and rejoice that God is drawing the line in the sand so that it is clear who His people are (sheeps and goats).
Stop trying to proofread the individual style and mannerisms of your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Start living and speaking the plain simple truth of scripture.
Start allowing the Holy Spirit to work after you deliver the scripture.
Stop focusing on men, and start to focus on Christ, because He is coming soon.
