I think what people really need to understand is that marriage was set up by God to be between a man and a woman. It is within that union, that sex is made pure. It is within the differences of that union that balance is kept.
What God has set up is perfect, and can never be destroyed.
What can happen to it, is that it can be perverted by the sins of people.
Sex is perverted when adultery, fornication, lust and homosexuality try to replace sex between a man and a woman in the bonds of marriage.
Marriage is perverted by adultery, divorce, selfishness, complacency and contempt.
The point is that God set it up as perfect one way, and one way only. Those who claim to love Him, should never desire to pervert the perfection that God created.
But all of us do. We all fall short of God’s perfection, and that is why Jesus came. To help us escape imperfection’s trap, and live in God’s perfection.
We might fall, but truth is truth.
I was divorced and am remarried; truth is that I fell, but rather than choose to continue in sin, redefining marriage to fit my needs, I repented. I fell, but I acknowledge God’s true perfection, and I change myself to fit God. I do not try to change God to fit myself.
When we raise our kids and are teaching them to walk, we know they will trip and fall. We tell them to get up and walk, but we don’t tell them to lay there and we will redefine what walking is.
If people choose to live in anything less than God’s perfection, then what they want is a civil humanistic thing. They want the benefits of God’s perfection, without the truth.
If those people want to be civilly united, then set up LLC and go continue in sin, but do not try to pervert God’s plan and make me accept it.
2 Timothy 4:2-4
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
