2 Corinthians 12:7-9 The Thorn in the Flesh 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Paul had this consistent issue that followed him everywhere he went. He was followed by people who would spread lies about him and bring him before the secular courts. We are too never judge a person’s ability to do the work of God, for it is not our right to determine if someone is qualified to do what God has called them to do. Sure we have the choice to not align ourselves with "certain" people, because the foot isn’t expected to do the work of the hand, and there are those who we are better off not working with. But we should all remember that it is God who enables us or another, to stand in the callings that He gives us. So, whenever those "messengers of Satan" come around starting their junk, just keep on letting God make you stand because (Ephesians 6:12-14) "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."”>Referenced Article Link

I read this article and I agree that bad things happen to God’s people at the hands of God’s people.

As I grew up, I have had my own issues at the hands of God’s people.

I was a bigger stronger teenager growing up, and quite often I was accused of being a brawling drinking party animal in youth services.

I was run off from a church, because I didn’t fit the mold of what a young christian man should look like.

I liked christian heavy metal, and that was called “devil music” by deacons who listened to “there’s a tear in my beer…”

I worked at a church that was run by a woman who preached sermons like “Why men won’t get serious about church”, and who would give me jobs to do “just to keep me out of her hair.”

I have had people that I care for, tell and believe lies about me that were preposterous leaving me wondering “why bother?”

I feel bad for women in ministry who are prejudged because of their gender, and yes it is wrong.

But let me exhort you in this one thing that has helped me stay in my calling and walk with Jesus.

The Thorn in the Flesh
