Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

It seems as we have built this cabin, there are always more than one small hurdles to get over a larger hurdle… I tell Mary all the time that “if we are going to do this, we must do this and this first.”

If you are the kind that can’t get past the fear of the unknown, you will spend more time thinking, dreaming and planning your goals than actually doing and living your life.

This cabin has taught us to take each bit one step at a time, and realize that there will always be obstacles and hidden costs, but we should never allow the fear of the unknown to hinder us.

Case in point today…

I want a little wood burning stove in the cabin this year. I long for the experience of watching snow fall this winter and listening to the crackle of embers in the stove. I want to get a pack of Jiffy-Pop and eat burnt popcorn while Christmas lights blink in the distance.

I want Mary on a bear skin rug… wait, never mind…

I want that in our cabin, and I am working towards it.

Now, as with a lot of the elements of this cabin, I have never installed a wood burning stove. I priced some cute little cast iron pot belly stoves for anywhere from $275 to $400 and figure that is doable, right?

So I researched the installation of said stoves, and learned that they need something called a chimney (as well as other fire resistant things).

Ok, we need to get a chimney system, and the best choice is a 6″ Insulated Wood Burning Through-The-Wall with 2x 30 Degree Offsets and 5′ of Insulated Ducting… (deep sigh)

So today as the first phase of having that Christmas Dream ready to go, I went and purchases the said chimney system… for 701 Bucks!!!

$701 spent for a fireplace that I haven’t purchased yet, and not to mention the fire mats for the wall and floor, log holder, fire poker, ash shovel and bucket, and inside chimney system… Oh and logs… we will need logs to burn, and a log frame for a rick of wood… I am going to stop there because you get the idea…

Wait… Christmas Lights too…

You see, it seems to be a lot, but one step at a time, and I will have my dream… I don’t have to rush it or stress it, I just have to do it…

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
