You Can’t Save You

Being a human being, with all the same things that make us human beings, there are things about human beings that I will never understand…

Why leave a bad thing, only to make the good thing the same as the bad thing you left?

Why leave a bad relationship, only to make all new relationships just like the one you left?

Why leave a bad job, only to make the new job like the one you left?

Why leave a bad country, only to try to make your new country like the one you left?

Why leave a sinful worldly lifestyle, only to go to church and make it the worldliest most sinful church possible?

Why pray for good things from God, yet blame Him when you choose bad things as you try to make yourself happy?

Clearly the Scripture is correct when it says, “there is none good, except the Lord God…” For the problem lies with us…

Yet we wonder “why bad things happen to good people, and why good things happen to bad people?” Is it because we don’t want to acknowledge that it is impossible for a drowning man to save himself, especially when it is we who are drowning?

Why do we look to other drowning men to save us? Hoping that somehow together we can find the solution?

All the while the nail scarred hands of Jesus are reaching out to save us… Yet we refuse to leave that bad thing, because we don’t want blood on our hands, forgetting that we at death’s door.

Jesus Christ, is the best thing to happen to me.

Because when the bad thing that is sin tried to kill me, Jesus saved me from the bad thing that is myself.

I don’t want to take the bad thing that is me, and try to form Jesus into my image. I want to conform myself to the good thing that is Jesus Christ.
