Goshen, Blood and The Wilderness

The teaching of Bible stories has been set aside in the modern church for a more “watered down feel good message.” This is sad because those stories are still relevant for today.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us, “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun.” This scripture reassures us that the things that we go through, are no different than what others went through, and that the teachings of scripture will be answering our questions throughout the ages.

One of the main events in Jewish history, was their exodus from Egypt. This story has been going through my mind for over a year now, and the Lord has been showing me various details that He wants me to take note of.

In America today and as we enter the End-Times, this Exodus story has proven to bare a close resemblance to what we are headed towards as a nation.

Let me first state that I am of the Kingdom of God, and I am technically an Ambassador to this planet we call Earth. My feelings towards the nations of the Earth have been shaped to be that of God Almighty.

Isaiah 40:15-17

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,
And are counted as the small dust on the scales;
Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn,
Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before Him are as nothing,
And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.

You might not want to read what I am about to say, but bare with me. We are told in the Book of Isaiah, that to God, the nations of the world are as dust and less than worthless. Yes, we have had people “die for the freedoms of this country,” but in light of eternity, Jesus’ Death carries much more weight.

The nation of America, it’s laws and culture, the territories it claims to hold, or the government that taxes us, is nothing to the King of kings and Lord of lords. God sets up the governments whether they choose to recognize Him or not. He will protect the national structure that recognizes Him, and turn over the one that turns it’s back on Him.

A nation will never stand before the Great White Throne of Judgement like individual people will, but God will give the people of the nation leaders after their own hearts (1 Samuel 8). You can pray for a nation, but you are better off praying for the hearts of the leaders and the citizens. If America as a people does not have a change of heart, then America as a nation will die. Like the nation of Israel was taken in captivity by Babylon, America will suffer a similar fate if it’s people don’t repent.

We as Americans have this idea that just because we are Americans, God will bless us, but if God did not spare the Israeli Nation, He may not spare us either (Romans 11:21). I hear so many times the words “American” and “Christian” used interchangeably, and this tells me that there are a lot of deceived people out there. I see how God has been removed from this nation, how He has been removed out of churches (there is no respect for the final authority of His Word, you will be hard pressed to hear the name of Jesus spoken, sin has been welcomed to the point that no one repents, and the Holy Spirit is quenched for the sake of sound bites.)

So I have been looking at the History of Israel when they were in Egypt. God wanted to build a nation, but the nation of Egypt was defiant. God’s people were made into slaves and persecuted by Egypt. The nation of Egypt was actually blessed when it welcomed the Israelites, but it allowed it’s heart as a nation to grow hard against God.

The mess was so great, that it needed a miracle. God’s will was going to be done, and Egypt was in the way.

Here we are in America…

Jesus is coming soon to usher in the Kingdom of God, and America has turned it’s back on God. God is not obligated to spare the existence of this nation because of our Constitution or founding fathers any more than He had to spare Israel because of the 5 Books of Moses and Abraham.

The question is this… Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose ten should be found there? (Genesis 18:16-33)

What I learned from the story of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, is that God is in the delivering business. Those who call out to Him will be heard, and He will protect, guide, and bring them through. God has control over the devourer (Malachi 3:10-12) and when He is booted from a nation and His protection is lifted, the destroyer has an open door to… destroy.

The destroyer cannot touch those who are under God’s protection. Israel was told in Exodus 8:22, “And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land.”  They we also told in Exodus 12 to put blood on the doorposts.

So as the destroyer is allowed to do it’s thing to those who have turned their backs on God, what of those who are called by His name?

If you call yourself a believer, it is time to dwell in Goshen where you are safely separated from Egypt (2 Corinthians 6:16-18), and it is time to put blood on your doorposts by repenting from sin and applying Jesus’ Blood to your life (1 John 1:6-8).

By doing this, you will be delivered from the tribulations that are coming (Romans 5:1-5).

Another thing I noticed in the story of the Exodus, was that the Israelites mistook Egypt and the wilderness as both being tribulations. We need to be delivered from Egypt, but the wilderness is where we are in the presence of God. We might not see it nor recognize it, but as we go from a defiant nation to God’s Kingdom, we will be in a season that we don’t understand.

Look at it like being in darkness for a long period of time. When the light shines it hurts at first, but we must remember that the light is of God.

Just because we don’t understand the wilderness, it doesn’t mean that God isn’t there. If the wilderness is a place that man does not control, then it makes sense that it must be God who is in control. When we are being saved and delivered from a bad situation, we must give complete control to The Lord God Almighty. This requires that we have faith in Him.

The Lord wants His people delivered as these End-Times quickly approach. He is coming for His bride. We have been told to be alert and keep oil in our lamps. We are in the final days, tribulation and persecution is here, we must stay focused on our Lord.

As He directs us on through to the place that He has been preparing for us, we need to keep our eyes on Him. There will be a light that guides us no matter if it is night or day. We might not understand all that we will go through, but we must maintain the faith.

Father God, You want Your children…
Lord Jesus, You want Your bride…
Sweet Holy Spirit, You want Your fellowship…

Here am I, Help me stay ready. Help me stay focused on bringing in Your Harvest.
